Question: When Is Ash Wednesday?
The date of Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, changes every year. When is Ash Wednesday?
Answer: Ash Wednesday always falls 46 days before Easter. (See What Determines the Date of Ash Wednesday? for more information.) Because it is dependent on the date of Easter (see When Is Easter?), and Easter is a moveable feast, the date of Ash Wednesday changes every year, too.
