Question: Is Transfiguration a Holy Day of Obligation?

On the feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Catholics celebrate the revelation of Christ's divine glory on Mount Tabor in Galilee. Is Transfiguration a Holy Day of Obligation?

Answer: The Transfiguration holds great significance for Christians. It is a theophany—a revelation of the glory of God and a testimony that Jesus Christ is truly both God and man. Transfiguration, however, is not a Holy Day of Obligation.
