Question: Is Annunciation a Holy Day of Obligation?

The feast of the Annunciation of the Lord celebrates the angel Gabriel's appearance to the Virgin Mary, his announcement that the Blessed Virgin had been chosen to be the Mother of God, and Mary's willing acceptance of God's holy plan. Is Annunciation a Holy Day of Obligation?

Answer: The Annunciation holds great significance for Christians. Exactly nine months before Christmas, it signals the start of God's plan of salvation. Annunciation, however, is not a Holy Day of Obligation.
