Regarding the strange case of Fr. John Corapi, a reader writes:
Thanks for all your information. I and (We) are all just shocked by this whole Fr. Corapi story. I pray daily for him but feel so betrayed but also know that priests are only human and subject to the same temptations as anyone else.
Who would I ask about all the Fr. Corapi materials we have and do we assume they are wrong and should be burned, buried or destroyed. . . . We love the man and he was so inspiring but I am faithful to the Catholic Church above all as he always taught us, which is so contradictory to what he is doing now and how he is responding to this.
That's a very good question, and I have received variations on it from a number of readers. I appreciate the reader's desire to do what is right and to put Father Corapi in perspective by placing fidelity to the teachings of the Catholic Church above her support for Father Corapi.
(You can find full coverage of this story in The Case of Fr. John Corapi.)
The Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity has said that it "does not consider Fr. John Corapi as fit for ministry." Beyond that, because Father Corapi has chosen to abandon his priestly ministry, he can no longer licitly distribute any materials in which he is portrayed as a priest in good standing, because of the potential for confusing both Catholics and non-Catholics and causing scandal as the details of Father Corapi's case become known. The fact that Father Corapi has chosen to flout this by continuing to sell "the entire inventory of Fr. John Corapi material . . . up until 5:00 pm Eastern time, July 25th, 2011" (as announced on theblacksheepdog.us on July 11) does not change the situation.
By analogy, we can assume that the faithful who have books, CDs, DVDs, or other material featuring Father Corapi as a priest in good standing should not lend or give such material to others. But are there legitimate personal uses for such material, or is the reader right when she asks whether they should be "burned, buried or destroyed"?
My initial reaction was that keeping such materials for personal use does not present a problem. One can, of course, read much of Origen or Tertullian profitably, despite the fact that they later fell into heresy (a charge which no one has made against Father Corapi). Father Corapi's materials have always been orthodox, and they remain so, no matter what his personal failings might be.
I decided, however, to check with a priest whom I trust, an unfailingly humble and orthodox moral theologian. He agreed with my assessment but added one more element that I had not considered: "The materials may no longer be edifying"—that is, they may no longer morally or intellectually lift up the person who is using them.
How could that be? After all, as I've just noted, the materials remain orthodox. The problem, however, is that those who use the materials may have a hard time doing so without bringing to mind the sad circumstances of Father Corapi's departure from the priesthood. To the extent that the materials remind us of that situation, they become less effective—and they may even become an occasion of sin, if they feed anger or resentment against either Father Corapi or his superiors in the Church.
So, in the end, the answer really depends upon you. If you can continue to use Father Corapi's materials profitably, then there's no harm in keeping them. If you cannot—if keeping and using them becomes a stumbling block for you morally—then you should get rid of them.
If you do decide to get rid of them, however, it would be best if you didn't give or sell them to someone else. To do so runs the risk of confusing others or causing scandal.

My brother-in-law’s parents saw Corapi speak in Arizona a few years ago and they asked him if they could make copies of his DVD’s to give to their friends, and Corapi emphatically said, “No, they should pay for it themselves.” I will pray that somehow Corapi will return to the priesthood and obey his superior. There is also good commentary on Corapi, obedience and Catholic news/issues by Deacon Dan Gannon on http://www.catholicurrent.com/#/.
Nobody in their right Catholic mind would want to watch those DVD’s,now.
Matthew 7 says it all!
Of course he’d say no–and he has every right to. I would never ask my friend (a novelist, who makes money off her profits) to give me free copies of her books to distribute to family and friends. That’s just common sense. Fr. Corapi earned a living off of his talks; “the worker is worthy of his wages.”
Maybe they should start charging 5 bucks for a confession.
I suggest that you recalibrate your approach to religion. Instead of playing along with the cult of personality leadership model of the Roman Catholic Church, begin to focus on your own spiritual life and journey. Learn to understand your spiritual development in terms of your relationship with yourself, others and God. Ask your church leaders to help you understand spirituality instead of forcing you to be a faithful follower hanging on their every word.
Mr. Shuster, I have no idea what, in my post, prompted your response.
Scott, I think John Shuster was not using “you” in a specific way as being in response to what you wrote. I think he was prompted by the whole Corapi affair to speak to us all in general; I believe he meant that “we” should recalibrate our approach to religion. I agree with much of what John Shuster wrote, except that I would NOT say that the “cult of personality leadership model” is true of the Catholic Church as a whole, or exclusively. Since all faith groups are composed of sinners, there will always be the personality-cult type of leaders and a certain percentage of faithful to follow them. The Catholic Church is no exception. But the Catholic Church has such a wealth of tools to grow one’s faith that no one should ever feel “forced to be a faithful follower.” Our Church is liberating, not confining.
Scott after a while of reading comments and responces I too have no idea what prompts responces and feel overwelmed by the abundance of judgement hate and negativity. I am not a priest but I have a licenced career . In a fit of rage my own brother falsly portrayed me, repeating a daming accusation an out right lie about me. I can protest but I will never be able to erace that comment from the minds of my family.
In this forum -No one should pass judgement or through a stone. Our tongues can be lethal weopons. That is why they are encased behind teeth and lips!
“instead of forcing you to be a faithful follower hanging on their every word”….That’s non-sense! I have chosen, by my own free will, prompted by the Holy Spirit, to return home to the one true church that Jesus Christ founded. No one ever forced me into believing anything. I came to this belief by using reason. After many years caught up in a “relationship with self” all it brought me was one step closer to hell.
Thanks Scott for another article!
Another issue with the Father Corapi case that I often wonder about. Before his abandonment, his videos were enlightening and a great guide. But now, with his questionable actions and confirmation of his sinful acts, it all seems for naught. He was a great educator, but his actions have created scandal.
A part of me wants to destroy anything by Corapi. But this seems to do with the feeling of betrayal. I felt angry and sadness to see a model become a sham. To watch his previous videos or writings, it hurt too much.
But there is hope. By the grace of God, I hope Father Corapi repents of his sins and turns away from madness. Maybe one day Corapi’s videos can do good. But for now, I’ll put them away, wait, and pray.
Maybe thats the best thing to do, put those videos aside and cooloff. Then decide wither or not to use them.
Is it morally acceptable to buy Corapi materials now before he officially shuts down his website?
Mr. Bob, since Father Corapi cannot licitly sell materials which portray himself as a priest in good standing, potential customers cannot licitly buy such materials, either.
Are you for real?
Morally acceptable?
You are judging a good priest who in his many years in the priesthood converted so many who were lost in their faith.
I bought some dvd’s last month before all the bad news was released I asked for a refund due to the circumstances and it was denied me. I feel very cheated and if he is an upright person of God he would gladly make sure people would get there hard earned money back. The whole situation is just sad.
Is anyone else, yet, beginning to think of that episode with the money-changers in the temple where Jesus fashioned a whip and started kicking the money tables over?
Often businesses close. When they do, refunds do not occur. An up right person, honestly are any humans up right? I thought we were all fallen from the time of Adam following Eve into sin. We are ransomed by the blood of the Messiah, but I do not think we are upright.
The grace of the Lord keeps us from committing the same horrid sin of which he is being charged.
Living in God’s grace frees us from whatever weak point in our armor we have that the devil would tempt us.
Prayer, fasting and devotions to the Lord’s word, are how we strengthen our armor. Mass should not ever be the only time we feed our souls. Sunday, family meal is not the only time we feed our bodies, nor should Sunday Mass be the only meal for our souls. Living in this fallen world, as often or more so that we feed our bodies we should feed our souls.
Father Corapi never left the Priesthood he was accused of having relations with a former employee who was fired and also arrested for breaking in and entering. It seems that the Bishop of Corpus Christi and the politically motivated Catholic medi ahve decided to slander Father Corapi. The allegations thae Sheehan released are of no merit reason being that Father Corapis Canon Lawyers have yet to examint the evidence, In many peoples opinion Father Sheehan of SOLT is guilty of Calumny. Firstly Father did not pay off witness he had the STANDARD SEVERANCE agreement one can look it up in WIKIPEDIA. Then SOLt says Father MIGHT have?? payed of other witneses MIGHT HAVE??? That is not evidence. SOLT could not gain access to Fathers Phone records or Computer records unless thaey had a court order subpeona etc. They did not have such authorization nor did a forensic computer expert view their information. This is an ubsurd Mockery of Catholic Justice The spin doctors are spinning out of control.
Father Corapi cannot be “suspended” by the Bishop of Corpus Christi or SOLT for the folowing reasons.
AS, Father Corapi abandoned his priestly ministry. Yes, he is a priest forever; that is Catholic theology. But when people speak of “leaving the priesthood,” what they mean is precisely what Father Corapi has done. He will almost certainly be stripped of his faculties and dispensed from his vows, either at his own request or against his will, because of his public announcement that he will no longer exercise his priestly ministry.
Hey. that was pretty funny “AS”–good one. Father Corapi and his crooked lawyers can now sue the Catholic Church for slander, or whatever now, since those idiots actually put in writing all the lies they made up about him.
After-all, Corapi’s hit the jackpot before by suing his heart doctors for millions . Now, he can sue these Catholic idiot’s for even more millions. That’ll really put him in fat city.
This could be the best thing, yet, that’s ever happened to the mighty sheepdog.
And, Jesus did indeed teach us not to overly judge. But also, nowhere in the New Testament does Jesus teach us to be stupid.
By the way, if you want to have some fun, tell some small business person who has some employees about the 100,000 dollar “severance pay” sheepdog so generously offered his prize employee, and then watch them get a good laugh out of it–it’ll lighten up their day.
Since this is a big learning lesson for all of us, can someone clarify something for me?
Father was still a priest (within the eyes of the Church) in April when he filed suit against his accuser, almost a month after he was placed on administrative leave. He had not yet resigned as a priest.
Under canon / Church law, was he within “rights” as a priest to do so since he was still obligated under obedience to the Church?
P.S. In this case, I use the term “obedience” loosely, since the definition of it has taken on a brand new dimension, depending on the perception of the reader (Fr, the Society & Church). However, the uniqueness of Fr’s ministry when it was established with Fr Flanagan, somewhere along the line (in my humble opinion) both sides seemed to allow it to spin out of control to the magnitude of the huge scandal it has now become.
Thank you so much for this thought provoking commentary. I, too, was a fan of Father Corapi and saw him live in NJ in October 2010. My heart hurts knowing that one of our faithful flock has turned his back on our Holy Church. We all need to remember that we don’t worship a Priest or the Church itself. We worship the living Christ through the most wonderful Eucharist. We are blessed to have this and it’s where our focus should always be. Having said that, I wondered about my DVDs on the Catechism of the Catholic Church. They have helped me study and understand the CCC better than any other class I have taken. I will try to watch them with an open heart going forward, but if I find myself focusing on the person and not the subject, I will put them away until all this has been forgotten or resolved or for the rest of my life. Maybe the Church should consider not allowing a Priest to become so big in the media – it certainly does not comply with vows of poverty. Shouldn’t all the proceeds of his ministry have gone to Catholic Charities or some other worthwhile Catholic Church-sponsored charity? It alarms me when I hear of all his cars, boats, etc. – isn’t that what got him into trouble in the first place?
It seems to me there is a desperate scurrying to get on the judgement train. I have always considered those phrases in the most precious bible that have everything to do with judging a person. We, readers, friends and foes of Fr. Corapi will probably never know all the truth about him, unbiasedly. But, what is happening to him looks like a very fast race to judge him. I will say this about his CDs, DVDs and books: He has very good things to say and explain in them. I have never read or listened to anything of his that was or would be considered unlawful, immoral, unethical or otherwise distasteful in any way to his fans or the church. The position of Fr. Corapi, whatever that may be for you right now, does not suddenly change the fact that he spoke with great fervor and honor of our Lady, of Jesus Christ and of God. How does that part change all of a sudden? I rarely know much more than is told in advertisements about the authors and writers of things I read. I look for their truth and honor to our great and awesome God. If he has done wrong, then let God handle it. He is ultimately who Fr. Corapi must face.
Patty, I dealt with the points that you raise in the post itself. Of course Father Corapi’s current situation doesn’t change the materials themselves, which is why it would be OK to keep them for private use. But the response of the moral theologian I consulted is worth considering, because very few people are going to be able to use those materials without finding themselves thinking of the sad situation in which Father Corapi finds himself now.
Now, how they react if they find themselves thinking of that situation will make all the difference. If it becomes a distraction to their spiritual growth or, worse yet, leads them to anger or resentment at Father Corapi or his superiors in the Church, then the wise and humble priest I consulted is right: The materials will no longer be edifying for such people.
I am Orthodox, not Roman Catholic, but I occasionally watch EWTN and found Corapi to be enlightening back in the day.
I’d say Scott pretty much has said it all.
In this case, it matters not what branch of Christianity to which Corapi belonged. He apparently broke his vows and certainly has been disobedient to his superiors.
I took a vow of obedience to my bishop, and I follow it. I will grant he has never asked me to do anything I found repugnant and he was a friend when we were both priests and still is.
Father Beegan, how do you know so much!? Where did you get your information? From the media?
Father Beegan works for the CIA on the side.
Same place we’re all getting our info from: the Sheepdog himself and the responses of his superiors.
Any intelligent person, no matter what his ecclesial affiliation, can draw the proper conclusions from these sources.
When I received Fr. Corapi’s newsletter for the first time (a year or so ago) I was dismayed by his high prices and the terms of use on his website. It reads like a license agreement and it made me feel like there was greed behind it all. I wondered if he was really responsible for his website or it he had someone with a lack of integrity running it.
This is good advice, and I will gladly take it. Just now, it pains me and makes me very sad to even see a photo of Fr. Corapi. I will hang on to the materials I already have, then see how I feel later down the line. If the sad feeling persists with the passage of time, then obviously I should dispose of them, and move on. Obviously, it’s more to do with a good spiritual attitude and a positive outlook than anything else!
Father Corapi never said one word that was contrary to the Magisterium or any teachings of the Catholic Church….if anyone wants to dispose of these materials…I would love to have them.
People must not judge….remember, he is not proven guilty and will never be given the just trial that would prove his innocence…however, these allegations against him still have not been proven without a doubt.
His teachings are still TRUTH, he is not proven guilty…and yet, you who think he is…are unjust judges.
remember, he is not proven guilty and will never be given the just trial that would prove his innocence
He will not receive a canonical trial now, it is true. But that is because he chose not to cooperate with a canonical investigation. If Father Corapi is innocent, the result of that investigation should, in fact, have been to restore him to the ministry without a trial. The only reason he would have undergone a canonical trial would have been if the investigation found evidence that the allegations were credible.
Father Corapi chose to bring the investigation to an end. If he is innocent and his good name is now besmirched because he chose to prevent the investigation from continuing, then he bears a very big portion of the blame.
That is why I’ve said from the beginning that I would have liked to see him remain in his priestly ministry and cooperate with the investigation. If he is innocent, that was his only chance to receive justice.
I would like to have seen him remain also and there are thousands of people who stand by his innocence.
Reacting to the comments of your readers who already have judged him guilty on all counts…when no factual evidence has been presented…unrefutable evidence…and in a court of just law….this would be thrown out. His enemies have planned well, to destroy him without a gun shot…just with false accusations .
In this day and age, one single accusation will destroy any Priest , guilty or innocent…to his destruction.
Listen to his preaching over the years , the fire with which he proclaimed Catholic Truth…..and that is the man, the Priest, that ,as he said…was just thrown into the trash and stripped. How can people be so blind.
Yes, they hailed Jesus coming into Jerusalem, and a few days later, they crucified Him.
Jesus said to Pilate, (the judge) ‘ you would have no power over me, but that it was given from above ‘….therefore he who delivered me to you has the greater sin.
All of us who reaped graces and great benefits from Father”s preaching and were touched by his Charism in the Holy Spirit….can you just join the mobs against him so easily. Where is the proof that you so quickly condemn him? Pray for him, and know that in his position…if any of us were really in the same place…do you know what you would do? These wounds are so deep, and their effect on any human being’s mind, heart and soul and body can only be traumatic. Innocent, and judged guilty leaves its mark for the rest of your life. ay He heal and take his rest and with the help of God and Our Lady…be able to forgive his accusers and live again in Peace , in Christ and free.
Scott,
Might as well be said, now, it’s pretty obvious Father Corapi quit the priestly ministry so the investigation would come to an end. Corapi knew that the SOLT investigation was finally on to him. Doesn’t take a Sherlock Holmes to figure it out, now.
So here comes the big debut of the BlackSheepDog. Is he going to still be Catholic or something else? Whatever he thinks will give him the biggest broadest audience. He’s in it for the money, folks.
Thank you for your thoughtful posts on this difficult topic. I too have wondered what I should do with the DVD set that Fr. Corapi made on the catechism. I think I’m at a point where the current situation (sad and weird as it is) would be too much of a distraction for me to watch the DVDs. As a previous poster said, I will hang onto them though because time may heal some of these feelings, and I feel certain that the material presented in them is solidly orthodox.
Whatever happened in this situation, we may never know. I try not to get too wrapped up in the coverage and strong emotional responses, but I do appreciate this point being addressed because it is important.
Thank you for your website
I haven’t purchased very much of his material, however I haved saved certain items on dvr. i find these very useful & in full complience with Church teachings. To throw away such info would be foolish as he was in good standing when he was in public ministry. If & I say if he is proven innocent, then what? don’t become histerical. If you’re unsure of Church teaching, make it your bussiness as a good & devote chatholic to get answers. This matter is for the moment all sckeptisum. How about concrete facts. No one is invisable or invinceble.
Yes I agree with you that the materials are valid because they are orthodox. No one has ever said Fr. Corapi did not teach the Truth. The problem here is that all the evidence has not come out or been proven. So the scandal is only because those in the Church have chosen to judge him without a fair hearing and before the civil trial is held. The confusion is caused by their sin of detraction.
And IF it is proven that Fr. Corapi is guilty, I can’t see why the good that is in the catechism series for example should be sacrificed. Truth is Truth. All people are sinners. You look beyond the person and hear God’s Truth. Plain and simple.
Yeah, and I hear there’s a big sale going on. You better get them while they last.
in the best interest of the past and the furture lacize the man now.
hopefully he will marry one of the women and become an honest happy person, losing his angry face and demeanor
Had brunch today with my Corpus Christian pro-life friends. Last month, Father C was the hot topic of conversation. Today he was not even mentioned once. Seems like the whole sad business is yesterday’s news and that’s a good thing. Today some new SOLT nuns took their vows at Corpus Christi cathedral. Our prayers and best wishes are with them.
Scott, I agree completely with your determination about John Corapi’s materials. I’m glad you posted it. Thank you for always weighing things so carefully for the sake of your readers. I have a number of Corapi’s DVD’s and CD’s, and I had decided the same thing: to keep them for my own reference but not to share them with anyone else. In fact, I had previously given a new convert some of his materials to listen to, and when the latest findings on him were published, I decided to explain to my friend that although the items were helpful and orthodox, Father Corapi has since fallen away and is no longer allowed to function as a priest. The whole thing is such a shame. I am praying hard for his re-conversion and repentence. Until and unless that happens someday, I’ll probably not even view any of my materials from him, because it just reminds me of the huge disappointment of losing him.
I have this great book titled:
CATECHISM

CATHOLIC
CHURCH

Salvy: Your reply is spot-on! After the Bible, the CCC rocks!
Enjoyed Franciscan Sister D’s response and Kathleen Norris’ also. Just to throw my two cents worth in; I’m NOT throwing out any of Fr. Corapi’s dvds, cds or video tapes that I have. I think all of you that are constantly accusing him without knowing anything are crazy. He’s still innocent until proven guilty.
Thanks for reading!
I don’t know what world you live in or what kind of drugs you might be on. Either it’s Father Corapi who’s lying through his teeth
or its the Bishops and the investigators connected to Solt who are absolute liars and deceivers.
Whoever is lying, they’re doing the devil’s work by creating such division, hostility and controversy in the Catholic Church.
John Corapi is the one person, who without a doubt knows exactly. And, Solt would be stark-raving mad to put all their conclusions in writing for all the world to see, if they were that evil to spin such a dishonest and damaging yarn about one of their own superstar priests. I don’t know if you’re capable of understanding something simple like this.
I saw a few YouTube videos of Fr doing a Google search yesterday. I opened one of them. When seeing Fr, all that quickly dominated was the scandal.
If it were me (and it isn’t), and I were innocent, I would have fought for my innocence and vocation, no matter how long it took and no matter what I had to go through so that the truth would prevail. Fighting the good fight. There is always going someone in authority no matter what your life path who is not going to agree with your position. And trust that one day if wrongly judged, that with time, I would be vindicated. The truth does always eventually come out.
God Bless Padre Pio.
Redemptive suffering sounds very couragous and heroic until its your turn to suffer it.
Mr. Richert,
Thank you for some great insights.
Pray for all Priests. They are ALL under attack and always will be. Holy Mother of God, protect your Priests under the Shield of the Immaculate Conception.
He who is without sin, cast the first stone
Cherish those wise words of his…..I know he brought me back to th e Faith!!!
God Bless Fr Corapi
He did so much good in those videos……”Let him cast the first stone”….remember our Lord said that!
It was also written that Christians would be tested forever.
Thank you for your work. For those who follow the work of Mother Mary, it should be noted she is asking through the visionaries at Medjugorje for a ‘new people’ who follow her son, Jesus, in the Holy Spirit doing God’s will and work. She is also asking for each of us to witness for Christ. Our church needs to follow her lead. She is the Elijah of the House of Prayer for All People as prefigured in the miracle of Guadalupe. In my own research of Akita, Medjugorje, Fatima, Naju, Garabandal, and many other apparitions it is apparent our own church needs to come to terms with the call of Peter at the Transfiguration to build three tents (ie: churches). The tent for Elijah represents the church with all the sacraments that honors the Holy Spirit and unites Christendom and the Jewish people with the 7 sacraments. The sinful scandals of wealth, sexual abuse, and using a church as a false god instead of as a vehicle to a personal relationship with God have been part of the demonic destruction we all must pray to overcome. Jesus and Mary, we love you, save souls! Amen, Tim
It’s so sad how most of you believed that wicked woman’s story. You are buying the story that Father Corapi is guilty? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Father John Corapi may have done bad things in the past but who hasn’t? We are all sinners. Some of us bigger sinners that others. And here you are wanting to “burn, destroy” his materials. How disappointing your raith is.
I don’t believe for a second that he is guilty. I have been falsely accused myself and it feels awful. And that was not even a major thing compared to what Father Corapi was accused of. I can’t believe people don’t believe him. He is a GOOD man with a good heart.
Unlike some of you, I believe Father Corapi never did such thing. If I could get some of his materials that were shown on EWTN I would! I would pay for it. It wouldn’t hurt me at all because I know he didn’t do anything that stupid evil woman said he did.
Fr. Corapi is a great man.
His statements indicate:
1. He’s innocent of the allegations against him.
2. He has not been allowed to defend himself.
3, He is the victim of jealous individuals within the church.
4. He has been denied his civil rights to do process.
5. The Pope needs to investigate the case.
6. The Catholic church is under attack around the world and we, the brotherhood of Christ, need men like Fr. Corapi now more than ever.
If you have Father Corapi materials, I’ll take them. I’ll even pay for them.
Hmmm, materials including speeches he gave that were recorded months or even years ago and were highly regarded. . . are now automatically not acceptable ? Did somehow all the words he said on those DVDs and tapes change ?
Its amazing how little people use the minds they have been given to think logically.
“Given,” did you bother to read the post, and the moral logic expressed therein, or did you just jump straight down here to let us all know how much more logical you are than, say, the unfailingly humble and orthodox moral theologian I quoted?
Of course I read the article and the opinion of one man you cited. The warning is that some people may entertain thoughts of anger or resentment. I doubt that those who resented Corapi would bother to watch his materials, so you must be referring to certain individuals in the Church.
On the other hand, people may realize that they don’t know exactly what had taken place regarding Father Corapi and the people involved in the specific matter. What was done in that diocese doesnt reflect what is going on in my local diocese or the Church as a whole. Bad decisions may have been made by one or all parties, who knows ?
Given this uncertainty, there are those of us who can listen & watch those lectures and get value from them, in the same manner that they did before. If others can’t do that, don’t watch his DVDs, there are those of us who’ll buy them.
P.S. – - not only are there those of us who would buy those old DVDs and tapes, we promise not to be ‘confused’ by them. – - And, for the life of me, I can’t imagine how watching them would cause any ‘scandal’.
I might add, that if the Corapi collection has the potential for scandal, if all possible, you might hang on to the materials stored “safely” away someplace; as you might change your mind later on; and “forgive” Fr. Corapi or his superiors (assuming forgiveness is needed, as well,
un-forgiveness is often in the mind of the beholder, hence it is often subjective and relative); lest you regret their disposal.
To reiterate; if you are unsure, give yourself time to sort out your feelings; as I cannot speak for others, but I can tend toward impulsivity later regretting some of my actions.
Dear Brothers & Sisters,
Father Corapi’s materials, were a great teaching tool for 20 years, one of the best preachers of our Catholic Church. His resignation as a priest does not make him less of a great preacher of sound doctrine. If you have VHS & DVD’s of Father Corapi would you consider putting them for sale on eBay or gift. We are many millions who still can appreciate his teachings; no matter if he has fallen into sin or temptation. Whoever is is clean of sin, cast the first stone… and as Fr.Corapi used to say: ” Strike the Shepherd , scatter the sheep.”
God Bless!

As far as listening to CD’s or watching DVD’s of Fr. Corapi…. the message is in the words being spoken. The words are powerful. Close your eyes and listen. The words are Truth. The message is Faith.
I believe Father Corapi’s “sermons” are the reason for me still being a
practicing Catholic. I say practicing because like all other homo- sapiens, I am a sinner. I go to mass every Sunday and Holy Days, say my prayers with honesty and true belief and try to treat others as I would like to be treated.
I was divorced by my wife because she had met a “better” man. She took me to court and convinced the judge that she would be better off with this newbie. I stood as much as a chance to stop the procedure as that snowball had in Hades.
I would like to purchase the talks that Fr. Corapi gave on divorce (either on the sacraments or Ten Commandments).

i would think that fr corapi would always be a beacon of hope for us catholics that truly seek the salvation of our lord Jesus Christ. he was instrumental in educating me in the catachism of our catholic church. he is and always will be in my prayers and i pray that he returns to his role in the catholic church as teacher and mentor. this ex priest is probably one of the best examples of a human living his faith as far back as st paul.
Only 2 people really know what, if anything, happened. Father Corapi has been incommunicado … but so has his female accuser. Where is her lawsuit? Her demand for justice? What was her intention when she made the allegations? Many have demanded that Father Corapi explain himself. Why hasn’t the same been demanded from the accuser? My Catholic Faith was edified and educated by him. Would anyone of us want to be considered untrustworthy because of any sin we may commit? And most, if not all, of us have committed serious, mortal sins. Out of the mercy of our Church, those sins are not necessarily made public. In the eyes of some, any sin is inexcusable … that’s called lacking forgiveness, mercy and is pathetically hypocritical. Think of Jesus and the adulterous woman; Jesus and Peter; Jesus and … us!
hippocrits all of you. Throw a decent man under the bus while the log is in your eye. All of fr. Corapis materials were good for the soul. Do you want to hide them from people who maybe looking for salvation and find nothing. For some reason catholics continue to pull the election lever for a prochoice canidate. God has his eraser eady to remove your name from the book of life. When did you become sin free. Would you hide bibles from all children if your priest was a sinner . I was looking for fr corapis eleventh hour video to inspire a misdirected friend and couldn’t find it anywhere. Something is wrong when you hide the word of God transmitted through a man with a gift from God. The Catholic church will fail because of you stone throwers “very soon “!. Start living your faith and have a little compassion and forgiveness.
IT IS VERY SAD TO READ THE COMMENTS!
ONLY BECAUSE IS ABOUT A PRIEST. I ASK ALL MARRIED MAN AND WOMAN, YOU ALSO SAID YES TO A SACRAMENT, JUST LIKE PRIEST DO. TELL ME HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU BEEN JUDGED FOR YOUR SINS? PRIEST ARE HUMAN JUST LIKE YOU AND I. LET GOD JUDGE HUMANITY. IT IS GOD WHERE WE NEED TO PUT OUR EYES. WE SHOULD ONLY LOVE AND PRAY FOR OUR CATHOLIC CHURCH.

Scott, I too have a very humble and moral theologian as a spiritual director. He is actually the spiritual director for a thriving Seminary in CA that is having to open a new wing to house all of the new seminarians, for men who came in primarily through JPII and to a lesser exent through Father Corapi’s papal sanctioned evangelization.
Father Corapi’s was ordained and supported by JPII.
Father Corapi once confided in one of his talks that he had asked for a quiet ministry, not public, since he’d seen so much sin. Instead he was ordained by JPII AND given a public ministry AND his catechism was hailed by no less than JPII as one of the most important and thorough works on the catechism in modern times.
Given all of this papal support AND given Father Gordon MacRae’s extremely readable article on the no win situation that priests find themselves in now and given Father Corapi’s own very moral and humble bishop advisor telling him to try and defend himself, I’d say that your moral theologian, given that he has the same level of ignorance as the rest of us, is giving bad advice to speak on this at all.
It actually speaks of a very human lapse in his humility to not have recused himself.
I absolve you of self-importance and believe you were trying to help people who wanted direction, but I think you would have been wiser to just advise we all pray for all those concerned and thank God that His mercy is so great to all of us in the same boat, sinners.
With real gratitude for your intentions,
Jeannie
