What I Was Before I Became a Catholic
A non-practicing Anglican. My wife had converted to the Catholic Faith more than 30 years ago. I would occasionally attend Mass with her.
Why I Converted to Catholicism
I had major heart surgery at Easter 2008. Just prior to entering the hospital I was on a jet between Sydney and the Sunshine Coast and without too much detail I was visited by the Holy Spirit. I ended up having two major operations within days and after the second was very disturbed for I needed to speak to someone about this need for Jesus in my life.
How I Converted to Catholicism
After a couple of months I visited the parish church and spent only a few months in RCIA. I was welcomed into the Church in January this year.
The Holy Mother is so very much part of my life. I have finished a course as Psychiatric Pastoral Carer, and I love my newfound faith.
As Jesus said, "You did not choose me, for it was I who chose you."
The Holy Spirit entered my life, the Blessed Holy Mother then came into my life and showed me the way and took me to her son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
The daily missal is so important as is the Bible.
Advice
- Belief is so important for all Catholics, new and old, accepting that to be Catholic is a privilege, not a right.
- Love the Blessed Holy Mother and pray the Rosary daily.
- Read about the last day our Lord Jesus lived on earth and the incredible suffering He endured for us. I will never complain about pain ever again.
- Talk to family and friends about conversion and your love of the Church.
- I had no obstacles; how luck am I?
