Is Your Christmas Tree Real or Artificial?
My tree is artificial because I live in an apartment.
Tell Us About Your Christmas Tree:
I do not put up a Christmas tree per se. My tree is actually an Advent tree decorated in shades of purple, champagne pink, ivory and gold. The ornaments on the tree are all Christian inspired with themes of Hope, Love, Joy, and Peace. And of course, there are doves to bring the Spirit. I put my Advent tree up at sundown on the vigil of the First Sunday. I leave the Advent ornaments on until Christmas Eve, and then I take them off and redecorate for Christmas with red, gold, and ivory. This way, I maintain the spirit of Advent AND Christmas in their respective seasons.
Tell Us About a Special Ornament or a Family Tradition:
I once made a set of Chrismons--ornaments for an Advent tree from the Lutheran tradition--for my parish church. We incorporated the Advent tree right into the Offertory at Holy Mass. Everyone said it made a HUGE difference in their awareness of the season of Advent.
Tips and Tricks
- Purple is actually an easy colour to find--just be selective on the choices and vary the shades for some depth. Rose pink however--will be a challenge.
