Pope Benedict's general prayer intention for March 2011 is "That the nations of Latin America may walk in fidelity to the Gospel and progress in justice and peace." It's a particularly apt intention during March, the month of Saint Joseph, as so many Latin American Catholics are dedicated to the foster father of Christ.

The Holy Father's mission prayer intention for March 2011 is "That the Holy Spirit may give light and strength to those in many regions of the world who are persecuted and discriminated against because of the Gospel." A good prayer to pray as we unite ourselves to Pope Benedict's intentions is the Prayer to Saint Lawrence, a deacon of the Roman Church who was martyred during the persecution of Valerian in 258.
