For the Dying
That They May Approach Their Creator in Hope

By Scott P. Richert, About.com

The last days and hours of a person's life should not be a time of fear and despair but of hope in the resurrection, promised by Christ and obtained for us through His own Death and Resurrection. In this prayer, we ask God to strengthen the dying that they may approach Him in hope.

For the Dying

Almighty and merciful God, You bestow on mankind both the remedies of health and the gifts of everlasting life. Look graciously on Your servant suffering from bodily infirmity and strengthen the soul which You have made. At the hour of his (her) death, may he (she) deserve to be offered without stain of sin to You his (her) Creator by the hands of the holy angels. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
