Pope Benedict XVI Holds Ecumenical Encounter

The Holy Father Meets With Christian Leaders

By , About.com Guide

On Friday evening, April 18, the Holy Father will take part in an ecumenical meeting with leaders of other Christian denominations at the Church of St. Joseph in New York City. The prayer service will include a reading from Ephesians 4, in which Saint Paul urges the Church at Ephesus to strive "to preserve the unity of the Spirit," reminding them that there is "one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all." After an address to the assembled Christian leaders, Pope Benedict will lead them in the praying of the Our Father.

Check back later on Friday, April 18, for up-to-the-minute coverage of this event.
