Lesson Eighth of the
Baltimore Catechism No. 2 ended with the
Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ. Before Christ returned to Heaven to take His place at the right hand of God the Father, He promised the Apostles that He would send His Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity.
The Apostles and the Virgin Mary spent nine days in prayer (the first novena) in preparation for the coming of the Holy Ghost at Pentecost. The Holy Ghost will guide the Church until the end of time.
