National Catholic Register
In a hard-fought race, the winner for Best Catholic Newspaper in the 2012 About.com Catholicism Readers' Choice Awards is the National Catholic Register, which also took top honors last year. The EWTN-owned National Catholic Register declares that
Our mission is to deliver the news that will strengthen the faithful in their day-to-day journey. The Register is making a significant impact by educating readers about what the Church is saying on contemporary issues. Tens of thousands are using the Register as a valuable tool in their call to catechize the public square. We equip readers with the critical information needed to defend and support the Church and further promote a culture of life and the Kingdom of Christ.
Michael Warsaw, EWTN president and chief executive officer and publisher of the National Catholic Register, delivered the National Catholic Register's reaction to the award:
Just over a year ago, the Register became an important part of the EWTN family. This award is a great affirmation that the content of the Register continues to meet the needs of the faithful as they grapple with the challenges of our times. The impact that the Register is able to have on the Church—by informing and inspiring people about the key issues of the day—is a blessing our entire team is proud to be a part of. We pray that God continues to bless our efforts, as we work in faith to be the newspaper of record for the Church in America.
