On the first day of Pope Benedict XVI's 2010 visit to the United Kingdom, the Holy Father was received by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at Holyroodhouse, the queen's official Scottish summer residence. After meeting with Queen Elizabeth and other state officials, Pope Benedict delivered an address recalling "the deep Christian roots" of British life.
