With half of the days of our Lenten abstinence already behind us, we might be getting a little tired of those staples of Lent in American Catholic households: macaroni and cheese, tuna-noodle casserole, and fish sticks. But while the point of abstinence is to deprive ourselves of something good as a spiritual sacrifice, we're not required to deprive ourselves of everything good (otherwise, the Fridays in Lent would be days of very strict fasting as well).
So this week, why not broaden your culinary horizons? Kyle Phillips, the former Guide to About Italian Food, compiled several collections of traditional Lent recipes from Italy, as well as other Italian recipes that are appropriate for Lent.
