Share Your Story: Why I Decided to Use NFP

By , About.com GuideJuly 23, 2012

Follow me on:

During a previous NFP Awareness Week, I offered a personal perspective on Natural Family Planning. But I'm interested in hearing your thoughts, too. If you use NFP, please share your story: Why I Decided to Use Natural Family Planning (NFP). Your experience may help others to make the decision to use Natural Family Planning, and help them decide which NFP method to use.

In addition, if you have an example of how using NFP has changed your life, please share it as well. The first form goes into a bit more depth; this second form offers you the chance to make a quick response.

I look forward to reading your stories!

(1) Mary Ann says:

This is truly the most illogical concept and practice. Tragically, we are losing the war on abortion due to keeping NFP as a tenet now on life-support itself. Whether people use their minds to plot the most ideal time for not conceiving or using physical means, it’s all the same and nothing will ever convince the majority of Catholics otherwise. In fact, Sean Hannity did an excellent job of explaining this reality to Fr. Euteneuer.

As a faithful cradle Catholic and participating in many ministries at various parishes, I know of no more than a handful of close friends who even talk about this. It is deader than Latin. But of course, whatever anybody chooses in this matter is their business. Most faithful by far do not care to know or be involved yet alone tell anyone what to do. It’s truly personal. Some feel called by their conscience to practice NFP, great for them and resources (though hard to find at individual parishes) are available. This is case in point for beating a dead horse.

Mary Ann, you write:

“we are losing the war on abortion due to keeping NFP as a tenet”

And

“As a faithful cradle Catholic”

What, in your mind, distinguishes the Church’s teaching on birth control (which extends back to apostolic times) from the Church’s teaching on abortion (which extends back to apostolic times)? Are other “cradle Catholics” who believe that the Church’s teaching on abortion is “deader than Latin” faithful, too? If not, why not?

Should the Church quit beating the “dead horse” of abortion? Or should She remain faithful to the apostolic tradition, which includes opposition to artificial birth control as well as to abortion?

Quite the contrary – NFP is experiencing quite the resurgence!

In this age, rife with synthetic chemicals, cancer, pollution, and waste, young couples find NFP to be a refreshing alternative to hormonal contraceptives or barrier methods. It is a “green” method that affords every opportunity for spiritual renewal. The biggest conversation topic among NFP users now is, “Why didn’t we hear about this before??!!”

NFP teachers are more available than ever; please check The Couple to Couple League’s website at http://www.ccli.org for Symptothermal NFP teachers, regions, and home study courses.

(4) sycophants and quislings says:

Thomas Euteneuer has been convicted by his Bishop and his Archdiocese in Florida of Sexually Assaulting numerous women while he was performing the Ancient and Sacred Rite of Exorcism.

Euteneuer “explaining” NFP to anybody is beyond hilarious if it were not so tragic.

Euteneuer has disgraced the Catholic Church and he has proven himself to be a “Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing” and a “Whited Sepulcher” or “Tomb”.

You should quote an honest NFP teacher and practioner in the future.

Euteneuer may yet face Criminal Prosecution and he is facing several possible Civil Lawsuits from the women he raped.

(5) Salvy says:

Well that’s news to me that Euteneuer has been convicted by his Bishop of sexually assaulting and raping women while performing exorcisms on them!
If true then he’s a psychopath who deserves to spend the rest of his life in a dark dingy cell.
Or are you the real psychopath who gets some kind of self-pleasure writing these things on the internet.

(6) Bunch of Crap says:

Father Euteneuer has not been “convicted” by anyone – check your facts. He admitted to inappropriate contact with a female under his care – NOT during the performance of an exorcism. He is not facing any litigation whatsoever. And there was no rape – so keep posting like that – and you will face litigation yourself.
