I never realized that there was a connection between The Burning Bush and Mary until I looked up more information about this icon. From what I understand, Moses predicted the coming of the Son of Man after seeing the bush that burned and was not consumed.

I agree with Phylameana. It does look very much like a mandala. Also looks very “modern” for such an ancient scripture.
