Much of the month of July 2008 was taken up by the attention-grabbing stunt of P.Z. Myers, a biology professor who threatened to desecrate the
Eucharist, and then carried out his threat. A series of articles on the controversy opened an enlightening debate between faithful Catholics and admirers of Myers. Meanwhile, Pope Benedict XVI visited Australia, a group of traditionalist Anglicans began their return to Rome, and another professor tried to undermine the foundations of Christianity--and met with about as much success as Myers did.
