2008 in Review: April

April 2008 saw the third anniversary of the passing into eternal life of Pope John Paul II and the third anniversary of the election of Pope Benedict XVI. The Holy Father also celebrated his 81st birthday while in the United States on his first apostolic visit to the country--an historic occasion that may have breathed new life into the Church in America. But his visit was not without controversy, as a Democratic senator held up a resolution honoring Pope Benedict XVI because of his opposition to abortion.
