Cleaning Our Spiritual House

Saturday September 27, 2008
The Catholic Church celebrates the changes of the seasons through the practice of the Ember Days, a time of prayer, fasting, and abstinence that helps focus our thoughts on the eternal things.

Today is the last of the fall Ember Days, which come after the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross (September 14). And since it is a Saturday, most Catholic churches will have times scheduled for Confession. If you have been celebrating the Ember Days, why not cap them off by taking part in this sacrament? And if you haven't been celebrating them, the Sacrament of Confession would be a good way to mark the change of the seasons.

After all, each of us can use a little spiritual housecleaning!
