Thanks, Sukhmandir. This is the section of the Mass known as the Elevation, which comes right after the priest (in this case, Pope Benedict XVI) consecrates the bread. So yes, since the consecration has occurred, the wafer is the Body of Christ.

Immediately after the Elevation, the priest places the Host back on a golden plate and genuflects, to show his respect for and submission to the Lord.
